This policy explains what cookies this website uses, what each kind is for, and how to change your mind about the ones that are not strictly necessary.
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to store, so it can recognise your browser the next time. Similar technologies, such as local storage and tracking pixels, do much the same job, and everything on this page applies to those too.
Strictly necessary. These make the site work: they keep your session, remember the choices you made in the cookie banner, and protect our forms from abuse. They are set whatever you choose, because without them the site does not function, and no consent is required for them.
Preferences. These remember settings you have chosen so the site behaves the way you left it. They are optional.
Analytics. These tell us which pages are read, how people arrive, and where they give up, in aggregate. We use this to decide what to write and what to fix. They are optional and are only set if you accept them.
Marketing. These would let us or an advertising partner measure a campaign or show you a relevant ad elsewhere. They are optional and are only set if you accept them.
A current list of every cookie, with its provider, purpose and lifetime, is available in the cookie settings on this site. We keep that list there rather than in this page so it stays accurate: it is generated from the cookies actually in use, and updating a table by hand is how a cookie policy quietly stops being true.
Some cookies are set by services we embed rather than by us. Where we embed a video, a map or a social post, that provider may set its own cookies once the content loads, under its own policy. Where you have not accepted the relevant category, we do not load that content until you do.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time in the cookie settings on this site. Withdrawing consent stops any further optional cookies being set; ones already stored can be cleared from your browser.
Every browser also lets you block or delete cookies itself, in its privacy or site settings. Blocking the strictly necessary ones will stop parts of this site working.
We update this policy when the cookies we use change. The date at the top tells you when it last changed.
